Who doesn’t love a spicy Christmas?
Don’t let the cold snowy front cover fool you, this romance novel has plenty of heat! I’m typically not a big romance reader but I was thoroughly entertained and had a lot of fun reading Only for the Holidays by Abiola Bello. City girl Tia Solanké is dreading the festive period. She’s on a break with her boyfriend and the last thing she wants to do is spend Christmas away from London. Arriving at Saiyan Hedge Farm, Tia takes an instant disliking to it. How is she meant to stalk her ex now and concoct a foolproof plan to win him back?
Country boy Quincy Parker and his family run the farm, and this year they’ve been selected to host the biggest event in the town's calendar – the Winter Ball. Preparations are underway, and Quincy is working around the clock to make it a success. The only problem is, he’s told everyone he has a date to the ball, when in reality that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Fun and down to Earth there’s a lot to love about Only for the Holidays. With loveable characters Quincy and Tia, these polar opposites manage to pull off fake dating despite a whole lot of drama and mess. Despite them being opposites, the chemistry is intense and seen from the very beginning, which kept me wondering how this romance would turn out. From Tia’s hot and cold demeanor to Quincy wanting to avoid literally everything and everyone, these two were destined to stir up a lot of trouble and romance. Bello does a wonderful job creating full characters from their mannerisms to their quirks that play a huge role in their decisions and choices throughout the story. Don't skim over the other cast of characters like Cam, Drake, and Banks whose roles are also important, adding more drama and funny antics to Tia and Quincy’s romance.
Fake dating, opposites attracting, self-identity and warming icy hearts are fun themes found in this romance of Tia and Quincy navigating the ups and downs of love. From betrayal to the forbidden "I need space" request, Only for the Holidays has plenty of other plot twists that will keep you reading to see what happens next. And chance encounters occur in the most unexpected ways and when you least expect them.
Only for the Holidays is the perfect young adult feel good romance that has plenty of spice to keep you warm during the cold winter months. If you love romance novels with forced proximity, fake dating, and betrayals of the heart then Only for the Holidays by Abiola Bello is must-read. It will fit perfectly in your Christmas to be read pile.
