Writing can be therapy to the soul whether it’s writing a short story, article and full novel. Many people find writing or journaling as a form of self care, allowing your mind to flow freely to process your thoughts, emotions and explore new ideas. While writing, our minds enter a stream of consciousness state that allows words to flow freely onto paper. It allows you to be spontaneous and write down what first comes into your mind; the perfect template for a book. But with so many ideas on your mind, how can you get started writing that book that is set in your heart? How can your writing practice of self-care lead to more?

Book Writing Tips

If you’re considering writing a book, here’s a few tips:

  • Brainstorm: Write down a list of ideas and pick the one you’re most passionate about, the one that energizes you and brings you joy. The writing will flow much easier.

  • Find your writing space: Whether it’s a quiet space, a coffee shop, or the outdoors with nature as your backdrop. Pick a place that helps you focus and reduces stress.

  • Choose a writing style: Experiment with different writing styles and techniques. You won’t know what you like unless you try them all.

  • Don’t give up: Writing a book takes time, effort and patience. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ve got this!

 

If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.
