This was such a smooth and sexy detective mystery from beginning to end. From Ashe’s smooth demeanor to the sexiness of Chicago’s rich history, any reader would love this slow burn mystery. This is 4th book of the Ashe Cayne series that continues a deep dive into Ashe Cayne and what makes him so unique. He is such a smooth character who is intelligent, eloquent, and driven which makes him the perfect investigator. Ashe finesses his way through this murder mystery (and his life) with ease and thinks outside the box, making calculated decisions and building bridges with the most unlikely people he meets. Everyone in his life has role to play, a part in solving this mystery that he relies on to find out the truth. If you have never read a book in this series, it works well as a standalone but it will definitely make you want to read the other books in the series.

I read this page turning book quickly, each chapter has a little breadcrumb of truth that puts you one step closer to solving the murder of Elliot Kantor. The pace was so smooth and easy, I never got lost reading about each character and clue Ashe discovered and found myself feeling confident that I had solved the crime. But that confidence would be short lived as there were plenty of plot twists that changed everything and threw my theories out the window. I was captivated by the story to the very end.

If you love murder mysteries where everyone has secrets, money and power reign, and a smooth black detective who will solve it all, then Eagle Rock by Ian K. Smith is a must read.
